The purpose of Emergence Magazine is to give survivors of sexual assault a platform to make their voices heard. More often than not, survivors feel a great deal of shame or even guilt because of the things they have been through; they may be silenced, either by their perpetrator or by their own sense of shame, never sharing their stories or their struggles with others.

At Emergence, we believe that an important part of the healing process is having the opportunity to express oneself about the event(s), the aftermath, and the journey towards healing. Our goal is to provide a safe place where writers and artists alike can express themselves, and we also hope to help readers know that they are not alone in their struggles. We aim to celebrate the strength and courage of these individuals by collecting a variety of voices and publishing them in a public format.
